Sheetrocking almost done!

The crew worked all weekend and half a day on Christmas eve to get the sheetrock hung and tape and spackle completed.  All necessary inspections have passed.  Trim and doors are next.  Window treatments have been ordered and furniture delivery set.  We are still shooting for early Feb. occupancy.  The project looks great.

Construction Update

The exterior of the house is nearly completed.  The interior rough electric, plumbing, fire, and building inspections are scheduled for this week.  Progress was delayed due to the storm and also due to issues related to the sprinkler system and the Construction Official's understanding of requirements.  We are 2-4 weeks behind the original 1/1/13 move in date.  We are hoping to make up some of that time.

Post Storm Update

We are very pleased to report no damage to the Bound Brook home as a result of the recent hurricane Sandy.  Construction was delayed slightly but work is continuing. 

Addition Ready for the Storm!

Our contractor expedited the installation of the windows and roof to ensure the addition is sealed up and weather ready as a storm is predicted in the coming days.

Work on electric, fire alarm system, HVAC, lift, sprinkler all ongoing.  The job is progressing on or ahead of schedule!

More Inspections Passed

Our General Contractor reports the following inspections passed yesterday:  Footing inspection for garage; slab inspection for basement; and sheathing inspection.  Everything moving ahead on schedule.

Closing up the stair tower

The weather has cooperated and things are moving along very nicely.  The stair tower should be all closed up by the end of the week.  The rough electric was started.  The garage floor has been cut to prepare for the lift.

The masonry work for the stair tower providing a second means of egress from all three floors of the house, including the basement, has been completed.  Framing is in progress.

 The interior framing is 99% complete.  Shown below are the new den and staff office built in what had previously been the garages.  A third of both garages was left in tact and will serve as space for the lift and storage.

The electrician is scheduled to start rough work on Monday.  The alarm company and plumber will do their rough work the week after next.  The addition should be water tight by next Friday.  The job is still on schedule for a 1/1/13 completion.

Passed Footing Inspection

Excavation for the new stair tower was completed on Friday.  Footings were formed and rods in place on Saturday.  Passed footing inspection and the footings were poured today.

Construction Has Begun!

After a competitive bidding process, Melo Contractors, Inc. has been selected as general contractor for our renovation.  Building permits have been issued and demolition has begun.  The new hallway on the second floor connecting the bedrooms with the bathroom and stair tower has been framed.  We are optimistically on schedule for a 1/1/13 move in!
